台灣小提琴家林品任近幾年成為國際樂壇上最受矚目的小提琴新星，近日剛奪下波蘭維尼奧夫斯基國際小提琴大賽，以及上海艾薩克斯特恩國際小提琴大賽第五名，並曾於2015年漢諾威姚阿幸國際小提琴大賽獲得第三名，以及“網路觀眾票選獎”。2013年在日本仙台國際小提琴大賽中奪得冠軍，並獲“最佳觀眾票選獎”。此外也曾在2015首屆新加坡國際小提琴大賽奪下第二名，“最佳觀眾票選獎”，以及 “最佳獨奏會獎”、 2011紐西蘭麥可希爾(Michael Hill) 國際小提琴大賽第二名以及“最佳紐西蘭新作品詮釋獎”、紐約新唐人國際小提琴大賽第二名、巴特拉姆弦樂大賽(Buttram String Competition)小提琴組冠軍以及“大賽總冠軍”。
在2013年，日本Fontec唱片公司錄製了林品任於日本仙台國際大賽的實況演出並發行CD。曲目包括布拉姆斯與巴爾托克的小提琴協奏曲以及貝多芬浪漫曲，由Pascal Verrot 指揮仙台愛樂交響樂團。隔年，與胞弟「白袍鋼琴家」林品安攜手合作，再度受邀至仙台錄製第二張專輯:「布拉姆斯小提琴奏鳴曲全集」，此專輯已在iTunes Store上全球發售。
出生於美國亞歷桑納州鳳凰城，但林品任從小在台灣受教育。他四歲開始學習小提琴，十一歲便與台北市立交響樂團於台北中山堂合作演出聖桑第三號小提琴協奏曲。十六歲跟隨李東亨博士(Gregory Lee)到美國奧克拉荷馬州繼續深造，並於次年考上寇蒂斯音樂院 (The Curtis Institute of Music)，在學期間師事小提琴大師亞倫．羅桑 (Aaron Rosand)。自寇蒂斯畢業後即進入茱莉亞音樂院 (The Juilliard School) 拜於名教授路易斯．卡普蘭 (Lewis Kaplan) 門下，並於2015年取得碩士學位。
Taiwanese-American violinist Richard Lin has already amassed a startling collection of top prizes at major international competitions, including the 3rd Prize and the “JJV Community Prize” in the 2015 Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition in Hannover; 2nd Prize, Audience Prize, and the “Best Recital Prize” in the 2015 Singapore International Violin Competition; 1st Prize and the Audience Prize in the 2013 Sendai International Violin Competition; 5th Prize in 2016 Wieniawski International Violin Competition; 5th Prize in the 2016 Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition; and 2nd Prize plus the “Best Performance of New Zealand Commissioned Work” in the 2011 Michael Hill International Violin Competition, among others.
Mr. Lin has collaborated with numerous orchestras at celebrated concert venues. Of particular personal importance to Mr. Lin was his debut in Tokyo’s Suntory Hall in November, 2014, when he performed with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and conductor Norichika Iimori. Other orchestras he has worked with include the NDR Radiophilharmonie, Shanghai Symphony, Poznan Philharmonic, Lodz Philharmonic, Polish Baltic Philharmonic, Nagoya Philharmonic, Sendai Philharmonic, Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonic, Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Taiwan Philharmonic, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Amadeus Polish Chamber Orchestra, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Yokohama Sinfonietta, Macau String Association Orchestra, and Academy of Taiwan Strings. He has also performed in distinguished venues in the United States, Canada, Germany, Poland, Finland, Belgium, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Taiwan.
In 2013, Mr. Lin released his first album on the Fontec label. The album includes works for Violin and Orchestra by Beethoven, Bartok, and Brahms performed with the Sendai Philharmonic and conductor Pascal Verrot. The next year, Mr. Lin recorded and released his second album consists of the complete Brahms Sonatas for Piano and Violin. The pianist was his brother, Robert Lin, an accomplished musician and a student at Chung-Shan Medical University in Taiwan whose dream is to become a “M.D. Pianist”. The Lin brothers have been collaborated for more than a decade. They made critically acclaimed recitals in major cities in Taiwan and Japan.
Born in Phoenix, Arizona and raised in Taiwan, Mr. Lin began his violin studies at the age of four. He gave his public debut at age of eleven when he performed Saint-Saëns Violin Concerto No. 3 with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra in Taiwan. At sixteen, he moved to the United States with his teacher Dr. Gregory Lee, newly named to the violin faculty of the University of Oklahoma. In the same year, Mr. Lin was accepted to the Curtis Institute of Music and studied with respected pedagogue Aaron Rosand. In 2015, He received his Master's degree at The Juilliard School, where he studied with renowned professor Lewis Kaplan.
